As a visitor to the Bay Area I was fortunate to find Ella at Claremont Hair Salon. As a mature aged traveller I have many hairdressers to compare against and I can honestly say Ella has a fantastic technique and one of the best I have encountered. Reasonably priced and good availability at short notice, but I will book in future. Thanks.

Ella is the best! I put all my trust in her and asked her to cut all my hair off, and I couldn't be happier with it! She even showed me the right techniques to maintain it and trim some pieces myself. She's awesome!

I was able to book an appointment easily with Ella / Owner and her shop is in a nice area at the border of Berkeley and Oakland (near The Graduate bar and Safeway). For years I have been asking stylists for a past the shoulder, short multi-layered and feathered look that is considered an 80's style. It is a cross between a Farrah Faucet and a shag cut. Whenever I went to stylists they would give me a very long layered smooth look, which is not what I asked for. I wanted something with multiple short layers throughout so that my hair would have more body and volume. Either the stylists did not know what I was talking about, they didn't want to take the time, or they didn't have the skill set. Ella understood EXACTLY what I wanted and did it! Plus, she charged me only $65 for a haircut that took over 1 hour. No need to go anywhere else, now that I have found Ella!
