I really wanted to like this place and have a local vet I could rely on, but my experience left me feeling taken advantage of.
I was charged over $513 for flea and ear treatment—no surgery, no major exams, no X-rays. Essentially, I paid that much to be told my dog had fleas and needed his ears cleaned.
Around noon, I asked the receptionist if I could step out while they finished the cleaning. She was on the phone and waved that it was okay. Five minutes later, I got a call saying they were closing for lunch and would charge a $30 “shelter fee” because I wasn’t there. I explained I was only three minutes away—I had just run home to let out my other two dogs—but they still wouldn’t waive it. After paying over $500, the extra $30 felt petty and unnecessary.
I had already told them I planned to come back for two more procedures for this dog, and I have two other dogs who would need care. That kind of service lost them a lot more than $30.
On top of that, I was told I couldn’t find the flea meds cheaper elsewhere, but I looked them up while waiting and found them $10–$15 less online.
Between the high bill, the surprise fee, and the misinformation, the whole experience felt very money-driven. I wanted TLC to mean Tender Loving Care, but after this visit it felt more like “Total Loss of Confidence.” Would not return.

I love this place! I am a first time pet owner to a golden retriever. Dr. Marshall was very caring and answered all my questions and concerns. My puppy was very sick and Dr. Marshall was amazing at following up and making sure he was doing good or progressing. He gave me all sorts of options to figure out what was best for my puppy. He was very sincere and not at all did I feel like this place wanted to take my money. Very affordable and the receptionists/staff are very friendly. My dog gets excited to see them.

The Vet and staff helped me through the most horrible experience of saying goodbye to my lifelong friend. I'm so sorry I can't remember any names right now. I just received the letter today.. Thank you all for everything <3

I wouldn’t recommend bringing your pet here. They gave me a very expensive estimate with a bunch of nonsense listed and they seemed very irritated that I was questioning everything! They had shampoos and mouses and stuff that was unnecessary. When I agree to a few procedures that weren’t very pricey they seemed disappointed and weren’t very friendly from that point on. All about the money here!

Very unprofessional. Left stitches in my pet and wanted to charge me to take them after the fact. Very unhappy with the service.

Gave me some of the most helpful information I have ever received from a vet! I’ve been taking my dogs and cats to vets over the last 20 years and am amazed by them.

Dr Casillas is no longer at TLC. He's moved to Pet Lovers in Long Beach. Our dog Bao has been under the excellent care of TLC and Dr Cassia's care for the past few years and recently I asked to make an appt and was told he's no longer there and there is no surgeon for the time being. I went to great lengths to track him down because I don't want another Dr that's not familiar with Bao's condition. I like that TLC is just down the street and the staff has always been nice but I need a surgeon and I'm still willing to make the drive to LB because I want the best care for my Bao. Hope this helps anyone who needs a good surgeon.

My husband took our cat today 7/8 and all I can say is $400 visit to say my cat has an allergy/allergic reaction causing her to lose fur and bleeding in those areas. Gave her some shots and medications. They contacted the other hospital that treated her last month for same condition and got the charts they recorded. I feel like they did a mechanic move on my husband . No lab work at all. Sigh, I will know within the expected 14 days of giving medication to my cat
