They estimated 2-4 hours, but I saw the doctor in less than 2. The doctor was kind. They took care of me and my dog. It was totally chaotic in the lobby when I first arrived, and everyone in front of the office was very professional. They did not oversell me on services and were clear on the estimate before proceeding with diagnostic procedures. It was expensive compared to a regular vet, but exactly what I expected from an emergency vet, reasonable for what it is.
We had the heartbreaking task of saying goodbye to our beloved dog, Coco, who was almost 11 years old. She had been struggling to walk and had collapsed at home, breathing heavily. We knew it was time to let her go, despite how difficult it was for us, as it wasn't fair for her to continue suffering. We took her to VCA Bakersfield, where the staff was incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. They were apologetic and sympathetic, making the experience as easy as possible for all of us. Their prices were very fair, even including the cremation of our dear Coco. Thank you to the entire team who helped us and showed such care and sympathy for us and Coco. You made the grieving process a bit more bearable.
Last night our foster dog became lethargic and passed out. My daughter and I brought her to VCA where the most caring staff (especially Kayla) showed great compassion, care and empathy. Oddly enough our pup came around and was normal within a few minutes of arriving. Kayla explained the options and possible causes, and we chose to bring our pup back home and keep an eye on her. If anything happens again I feel 100% confident that if need be we would take our pup back to VCA.
