It’s hard to think about an enormous subject like what to do with the remains of a loved one, when you’re already grieving their loss of health, the strain it puts on your families as you make time to care for them , and trying to give them the most dignified and loving sending.
But here to say that I’m so honored and fortunate to have been in John’s care through Hilgenfeld. He’s sensitive in his communications and you can feel he’s really looking out for you. I can't say that I recommend this place. The two people I talked to throughout the process were nice enough and very responsive, but there were a few issues.
Even though my deceased loved one pre-paid her cremation and put my name and address down to receive her ashes, they still acted hesitant to give me them, since I'm not next of kin. First, they said they needed to see her advance directive that I was on, which makes no sense, since she isn't alive. Next, they almost released the ashes to next of kin, despite me being the one on the paperwork, AND me stressing to them to NOT give the ashes to that person when they were received from... read full review
We are deeply grateful for the compassionate and professional care we received during a very difficult time. From our first meeting, the staff treated our family with kindness, patience, and respect. Every detail was handled with thoughtfulness and dignity, and their support made the process much easier to bear.
