I can only give the highest praise to Credit Counselling Society and the services it provides. My counsellor Hailey Cooke works out of the Ontario office but was assigned to me who lives in BC and she was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, patient and kind, and informed me about some financial options with great eloquence and thoroughness. I highly recommend Credit Counselling Society's consultations to anyone.

Before dealing with any private debt counselling company, consult the Credit Counselling Society first. They are very knowledgeable, and they are non-profit (which means they have no vested interest in making money). Other private companies counsel and then act as an intermediary that recommends a consult with an insolvency trustee. You don't need an intermediary. You can always contact a trustee yourself if you need to. The CCS will help you decide what the best options are (for free).
