When we had our balcony replaced, Mark temporarily removed the gutters around it and then put them back up, creating a new custom downspout to cope with an unexpected change in the geometry of the structure. A few weeks later, the summer drought broke and rain came down behind the newly-attached gutter--again a consequence of the new angles of the balcony.
