Ideal Physical Therapy

My surgeon recommended surgery for my back and physical therapy afterwards. He recommended ATI Physical Therapy in Tempe. I went there and I had a great session. My physical therapist was wonderful. I was told that my insurance was in network and I didn't have a co-pay. Then everything went down the tubes. I got a bill from ATI for $130. The bill itself said the session cost $455 for an hour. But the insurance covered all but $130. My insurance is supposed to cover almost all of it. When I called the main office, they didn't have any insurance information on me at all. The physical therapists are very nice and helpful, but just be aware they are charging you for every 15 minutes you are present in the office (even when you are waiting while they treat other patients). For me it was an additional ~$70 charge/$20 out of pocket for every 15 minutes, so in retrospect I would have been more selective about my in-office treatment.

After my first appointment, I was looking forward to having a good PT experience. When I went for my second appointment, I arrived on time. A P.T. assistant had me get on the stationary bike, with my big plastic boot on. He said my therapist would be out soon. The therapist came out, pushing his high table with the laptop on it, and went to the other end of the room that I was in. After I had been on the bike for 15 min. he called me over to a table.
