    The majority of this century old cemetery has little greenery which is good in a way so not much grass cutting is required. I always like stopping by the oldest tombstones to check out the art work from back in the day.

    Its a very historical place for Tempe and Arizona. I am very happy to be able to go there. One thing upset me was that there is not a map of all the amazing ppl that helped start this town!!!! But i am also upset that there is not a road map of historical Tempe also!!!

    Many of my ancestors are interred in this pioneer cemetery. On the north side of the desert section is a large family plot with a tall headstone engraved with the HENDRIX. Several family members' remains are there. West of that section, on the small road that has the caretaker building at the end, is the AUSTIN family plot. My grandmother (Georgia Alfretta Hendrix-Austin) and grandfather, Linzy Carson Austin have their headstones there, as do several of their children and relatives and my parents, VirginiaLee Austin Hinton and Jay Baker Hinton, D.D.S. The Hendrixes were my maternal great grandparents. My grandparents and great grandparents were Tempe Pioneers.... read full review
