We were very impressed with Dr. Stevens, but left before becoming patients because the office does not answer the phone, does not get back within an hour, as they promise, and when they do get back they cannot answer our questions. Playing phone tag is no way to treat patients, as that can go on for several days; patients are busy, too, and cannot always answer the phone when they call back. Alyssa the office manager, does not let receptionists answer any questions so we have to wait until they consult with her, a poor management style that leaves patients waiting to get an appointment or get questions answered. Because she was out of the office the day I called, it took over 4 hours for her to get back to me about an appt. The persons answering the phone know little and cannot answer questions. It appears that Dr. Stevens is either not aware of these problems or does not deal with any of this, but it does affect patients' trust in this office and so we left this practice.

UPDATE: Scottsdale Primary Care/Elena Barriga, Nurse Practitioner review Double score for Scottsdale Primary care: The thing about a great doctor's practice is that, as well as being welcomed and understood, you come out knowing more, and at the least, are more educated about what's going on in your own body, and hopefully, feeling in control of your health. I had a helpful and grounding Zoom appointment with Elena Barriga, NP. She meets and directly matches the high caliber of care I've from Dr. Stevens. Appointment was punctual. She was warm, bright, educated and also equipped with solid communication skills. As well as focusing easily in on my issue, and happily and kindly reiterating things for me several times (it's hard to focus when you're in pain), she had read my notes, and followed up regarding a surgical procedure I recently had. She was focused, understanding and very helpful. As with Doctor Stevens, I felt valued and supported, had more than enough time to speak, listen to, and digest her info, before appointment ended. This is gold.

I attempted to become a patient but arrived 1 min before my appointment instead of the 30 min prior they require. So they said sorry we have to reschedule. They went on to tell me that patient, aka the customer, lateness is not tolerated but if the Doctor runs late that is perfectly acceptable because of the nature of their work. The office staff has to be the worst I have ever dealt with in my life. Who knows if the Doctor is good but given he most probably hired the staff up front you have to wonder. Can you give negative stars? Given that things happen for a reason, I believe I just dodged the proverbial bullet.

This office has always been good to me. Setting up an appointment can be annoying when you want to speak to an actual person and they never pick up the phone but leaving a voicemail with them will get you through to someone quickly as they usually call back promptly.

We moved about 25 minutes away and I had considered finding a new Dr just because of this, but my recent experience here pushed me to actually fire my doctor. The last time I trekked it up there for an appointment I arrived 5 minutes early with both kids in tow. Well they had the nerve to turn me away because I didn't arrive THIRTY minutes early to fill out paperwork. EVEN THOUGH the previous time I saw the doctor I diligently arrived 30 minutes early as instructed with both kids for what amounted to 5 minutes of paperwork, and then sat there waiting 45 minutes PAST my appointment time (that's 75 minutes sitting there with my kids) waiting for the Dr. This time when I was 5 minutes early I asked to fill out the paperwork anyway knowing it would be quick like last time- same old questions- but they wouldn't even give it to me telling me my only option was to reschedule. So I asked to speak to an office manager or the doctor because I find this unacceptable and was told the same thing. So understandably I was super pissed and I stormed out (as best I could with a double stroller) and fired them. Not worth the time suck. It's not like they had amazing service when you finally see a doctor or anything. The office staff was rude and unapologetic. Go somewhere else where they respect your time and are reasonable humans.
