I've been coming here for the past 8 years and have watched this place become what it is now, Lately I've noticed that some things are in fact overpriced, while other items are below what i believe them to be worth, or priced about right, i think whoever is pricing the items should do a little more research on some things. Otherwise I like shopping here, Never know what you might find.

I used to love this thrift store, especially because it claims to support veterans—something that truly matters to my family, as my husband is a veteran. That mission is what initially drew me in and kept me coming back.

Unfortunately, the joy of thrifting here is gone.

This store now researches donated items and prices them at near antique or collector rates. If this were labeled as a vintage or antique shop, that would be one thing—but it’s not. Thrift shoppers aren’t expecting to spend hundreds of dollars on donated items. We come for affordable finds, sustainability, and the thrill of discovery—not resale pricing.

On my most recent visit, I picked up a small vintage-style Christmas salt and pepper shaker set—nothing extravagant, just charming. When I brought it to the counter because it lacked a price tag, the cashier informed me they were $45 each because they were “from 1955.”
That’s $90 for salt and pepper shakers at a thrift store—items that were donated for free. Completely unreasonable.

After declining, I noticed a sign stating “50% off for veterans.” As the wife of a veteran, I asked if the discount applied to me, explaining that my husband is the sole income earner in our household and that I carry a USAA card. The response I received was blunt: “Are you a veteran?” When I said no, I was told the discount did not apply.

I fully understand that I am not a veteran. However, military service impacts entire families. Our first child was born while my husband was deployed in Afghanistan. Many businesses recognize this and extend courtesy to spouses, often with a simple “please thank your husband for his service.” The attitude I encountered here felt dismissive and out of alignment with a store that claims to exist to support veterans.

Every business can set its own policies—but when pricing resembles an antique store and compassion feels absent, it raises serious questions about where the support actually goes.

If you’re looking for true thrift deals, this is no longer the place. And if your goal is to support veterans, you may be better off donating directly to reputable veteran organizations rather than shopping here.

I tried to buy a little electric timer it had a $3 sticker on it when I was going to pay for it I noticed there was a $5 sticker on it and I told them that I would give him three it wasn't worth five and they acted like I was trying to steal it or changing the tag. If I would have put a $3 tag on I would have .took off the $5 I'm a Navy Vietnam vet and I've lived here in show low for over 60 years and this just ain't right.

The Thrift Store is pretty well organized. They have a nice variety of items. There is a Big Sign on the wall indicating the prices of not marked. Everyone that I have dealt with there have been very nice. Parking can be a little tricky when they are super busy. It is a gravel lot for those that have never been or have walking issues, I suggest parking by the door or past the dumpster. They also have great sales. $5 bag day. 50% days etc.

Horrible place, bed bugs in cabins, they served us undercooked food, the manager and the board are incompetent to run this place. Not a friendly atmosphere they discriminate those with ptsd

Very clean, tidy and well organized. Lots of items in great shape. We found 2 pairs of sneakers that were in almost brand new condition. The items sold here are in excellent shape, the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable and the shop is a delight to go into. Something for everyone and they help support Veterans. One of my favorite place to go when I visit Show Low, AZ.

Horrible place veterans not welcome at the thrift store. The way they treated veterans is a slap in the face TO THOSE WHO SERVED.
