I had the incredible opportunity to take classes at Ollin Yoliztli Dance Academy during the three months I spent living in Arizona, and I can honestly say it was one of the most meaningful experiences of my time abroad. As an international student, I was looking for a place where I could learn about Mexican culture in an authentic, respectful, and welcoming environment — and I found so much more. The teachers are not only highly trained and professional, but also incredibly warm, patient, and passionate about what they do. Every class felt like a celebration of heritage, identity, and heart. Ollin Yoliztli is more than a school — it’s a living cultural center where students grow with discipline, joy, and pride. I will carry everything I learned here with me, always.
Como adulto, siempre pensé que ya era tarde para aprender música... pero entrar al programa de mariachi en Ollin Yoliztli ha sido una de las mejores decisiones de mi vida. Desde la primera clase me sentí bienvenida, respetada y motivada. El nivel de conocimiento de los maestros es impresionante, pero lo que más valoro es su paciencia y su pasión por enseñar. Estoy aprendiendo guitarra y cada semana me conecto más con la música de mi cultura. Aquí no solo toco notas, toco memorias, raíces y emociones. Esta escuela no tiene edad — solo corazón.
Amo que en esta escuela no hay competencia entre los niños, sino colaboración. Todos se apoyan, crecen juntos y se sienten parte de algo grande. Es una comunidad hermosa.
