​I originally came to this gym through a We Defy sponsorship after realizing my previous academy wasn't the right fit for my specific learning style and difficulties. Right from the start, I chose the 6:00 AM class, and despite my struggles with processing the material and the fact that personal life challenges and a long commute made my attendance inconsistent, the reception I received was incredible.
​Everyone at Palloton accepted me without judgment. The patience and willingness to help me learn meant the world to me. What sets this place apart, though, is that the care didn't stop at the edge of the mats. When I was facing difficult personal issues outside of the gym, the people here stepped up to support me. The sense of community, from the owner to the athletes, is genuinely amazing.
I stepped away a while ago when i lost my job but I recently got a new one and ​because of how far away the gym is from my home and work, I had to make the tough decision to transition to a closer academy so I can train more consistently. Leaving is bittersweet. As a military veteran, I have been looking for that unique sense of camaraderie and brotherhood that you miss most after service, and I was absolutely starting to find that here.

“This last weekend I competed in the Family Fit Fest 4 and had a great time! It was super organized and ran really smoothly from start to finish. The volunteers were honestly amazing—they were so supportive, encouraging, and kept everything moving all day. You could tell they really cared about making it a great experience for everyone. Scott did a great job putting everything together, and the hard work definitely showed. The workouts were challenging but so much fun, and the overall environment was just really positive. I visited two other schools before discovering the Aikido Academy here in Catalina. One word: "Outstanding!" The instruction provided is practical and efficient.
