The camaraderie among everyone—coaches and teammates alike—is incredible. It’s a place where you can push yourself, fail, get back up, and grow, not just on the mats but as a human being.
For me, it’s been a safe space to work through my mental health struggles. The combination of the community, the encouragement, and the sheer focus BJJ requires has been healing in ways I didn’t expect. And yeah, I guess I’ve even learned a little Jiu-Jitsu along the way—at least enough to pull off a half-decent armbar when someone’s being too nice!
If you’re looking for a place to feel stronger, both inside and out, Pallaton BJJ is it. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. Thank you for helping me grow.“

I’ve watched my girls grow into disciplined, confident young women who take ownership of their health and their growth at school, at home, and in the dojo. The academy’s intentional, data-driven approach helps students continuously improve. Because of this, my daughters compete in CrossFit and jiu-jitsu competitions throughout the year alongside highly skilled athletes who regularly comment on their excellent technique and form—skills they’ve developed here.
Sensei Scott sets the tone for the entire academy. His leadership, consistency, and genuine investment in each student create an environment where kids are challenged, supported, and held to a high standard.
What sets Valor and Virtue apart is its heart, where a deep commitment to service, community, and giving back helps shape not just strong athletes, but strong, capable young women, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the impact it’s had on my family.“

Jarrod is very knowledgeable and knows how to read the tension in your body and how to properly address it. I would recommend Tuina to anyone experiencing discomfort or pain.“

“I have never seen any place where every single instructor from all levels is incredible with the kids. This speaks volume to the culture of excellence and respect of Oro Valley Martial Arts and how seriously it takes teaching individuals to not only advance themselves but also to give back. We love that they teach our kids important values in addition to Taekwondo. It is truly a space and community that we want to keep our kids (since they were toddlers!) in for as long as possible!“
