I have Select Home Warranty. They sent a tech who said he thoroughly tested my AC and a ground short caused the compressor to die. They refused to cover the compressor because they have an exclusion in their policy for electrical problems. It took a week to get to that point, a week of 105 temps here in Phoenix. I called True Comfort to get a quote for a new system, since mine is 15 yrs old. Tech came next day. In 30 minutes, he had the AC up and running. There was no ground short and the compressor was fine. Just needed a new capacitor, and a reset. Select Home Warranty still refuses to pay for the much lower bill.
