I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to be treated at the City Of Hope and I do not understand why they have a 3 rating. Since I have been referred their, upon my request, I have been afforded every Medical tool to determine what and where my 2 different cancers are. Even though my case is unusual my team is doing everything within their power to find the right treatment and because they care I am GRATEFUL. At every appointment I am treated with kindness, empathy, sympathy and am exposed to professionals that take the time to actually LISTEN. That is rare in the medical field today. I've always had a great experience at City of Hope (knock wood). Everyone is friendly and prepared to console you, pray with you, and listen to your concerns. I only wished they could keep the same doctors for a longer stay. With a shortage of doctors, there is consistent churn in the market.
I was referred here for surgery and from the first phone call, everyone fell all over themselves to make sure I knew exactly what was happening at every step. I was previously scheduled for surgery at another hospital and that fell through literally at the last minute (almost on the way to surgery) due to my completely incompetent doctor, so when I was referred away, it was a bit of a relief. It turned out to be the best thing that could have happened. My new surgeon, Dr Scribner, was gushed over by everyone who I spoke with prior to meeting him.
