Very disappointed with the experience that I had at Wicked City Tattoo. I tried calling the owner, and left a voicemail message and I also sent him a detailed text message. It’s been a number of days since I’ve done that and I have been ghosted. To tell the story. I am copying below the message that I sent explaining what happened.
On Tuesday, April 28th I had a tattoo done by Kurt Valencia at your shop, Wicked City in Cottonwood. I want to communicate with you about the experience that I had with your business.
I’ve had more than 20 tattoos done over the years and I have never felt the need to go back and complain about the work that was done. Most of the tats I’ve received have been excellent. There have been two or three that I was a bit disappointed with, but I’ve never felt the need to complain. This time is different.
I was very clear with the instructions to Kurt. I created the design myself, and I shared the image with him and told him that I wanted it to be done exactly the way that it appeared in my drawing. We discussed adding color to it, and I agreed that there could be color in the cactus and in the sun. The tattoo is located on my arm where I could not see the work as it was being done.
I’ve attached an image of my drawing and of the finished product. Kurt missed putting the lines in the cactus. He missed lines in several parts of the sun, and the sun rays at the top. The line is broken in the image of the scorpion at the bottom. On my first look at it I asked him to add the outline to the sun. Then when I saw what he did, I didn’t want him to do any more work on me because the added line to the sun made it an odd shape. The sun should be round.
Besides all this the overall line quality is poor. I’m hoping as it heals it’ll line up better but at a glance it just seems very sloppy work and I feel it will be necessary for me to have a good tattoo artist cover it.
When we were getting ready to do the tattoo Kurt said he wanted to go out and grab a smoke first. When he came back the smell of marijuana was strong. Now, I’ve had work done with a tattoo artist before who would take a few hits off a pipe before she would go to work and she always provided me with very good tattoos so I gave Kurt the benefit of the doubt, but I think it would be better for him to not get stoned before doing a tat.
What is even more disturbing is the way I was treated when I came back the next day to see if I could talk to you. Kurt was confrontational and aggressive. I told him over and over again I wasn’t going to argue with him or discuss it with him any further. I just wanted to talk to the owner. But, he just kept going on arguing with me and saying that he gave me exactly what I asked for. I did not appreciate his hostility and I also did not appreciate how the other people in the shop circled around me and made me feel threatened.
One of your workers gave me a copy of your business card while another one opened the door and aggressively told me to leave.
I’d like to know what you, as the owner of this business, intend to do to make this wrong situation right.

I don't recommend getting industrial piercings at this shop. I had to have mine removed due to incorrect placement incorrect jewelry and they lacked the knowledge or they were dishonest about me having incorrect anatomy for the industrial piercing in the first place.

Would not recommend only if you want to get scammed and unfinished tattoo Got quoted 500 They did half the tattoo and I paid 300 and upon rescheduling he wanted another 450 to finish. Not professional at all To top it all off I got two different looking wings on my back for the rest of my life Artist name Eduardo

Had a great experience here!! My friends and I were in Cottonwood for my birthday weekend and we wanted to get tats! We were able to walk in and all 3 of us got the cactus tats we wanted! They all turned out so good, thanks for the awesome service!!

The shop is super clean and filled with life, laughter and amazing conversation from all the artists there! Super professional and felt super comfortable the entire time! Definitely recommend setting up an appointment with any of the artists there since all their work definitely exceeds a 5 star review<3
