⭐ 1 Star — Extremely Disappointed with Roto-Rooter

I am extremely unhappy with the service I received from Roto-Rooter after a hot water line broke under my kitchen sink. What should have been a straightforward repair turned into a much bigger and very costly problem due to their handling.

First, the leak detection company they sent marked incorrect areas and unnecessarily knocked/damaged my marble floor — something that should have been avoided. Because my original flooring is now discontinued, my insurance required replacement of the entire first floor. This alone caused my insurance premium to double starting next month.

Then the water remediation team removed part of my custom-made kitchen cabinets. The front panels — which were NOT water damaged — should have been carefully saved, but they were not. Now the cabinets cannot be matched with the remaining ones. Insurance will not cover replacing the entire kitchen, so I now have to pay out of pocket to replace all the cabinets. This is a major financial loss.

They also unplugged my dishwasher and moved it during remediation. After the work was done, I asked multiple times for them to reconnect it because I needed to use it. After several calls, they finally returned — only to tell me the dishwasher was “bad.” This is unbelievable. I replaced the dishwasher at the end of 2024 and had been using it without any issues until the day they unplugged it. After they handled it, it suddenly no longer works, yet they refuse to take responsibility.

Additionally, after removing the cabinets, they did not properly support the countertop. It was left resting only on two wooden beams in the middle, and now the countertop has bent. This should never happen with professional remediation work.

This entire experience created:
• Flooring replacement of the whole first floor
• Insurance premium increase
• Custom cabinet damage and full kitchen replacement out of pocket
• Broken dishwasher after their handling
• Bent countertop due to improper support

I am extremely disappointed. This situation went from a small plumbing issue to significant property damage and financial loss. I expected professional care and instead experienced negligence at multiple steps.

I would not recommend this company based on my experience.

I did not like not getting estimates prior to showing up. Then with a very high price. I felt I had no choice. Will not use again under same conditions

I believe an employee had already taken care of the issue, but when I called to cancel the call, I was told I should have him come out anyway and double check the plumbing/sewer. I had a toilet issue late at night. It wouldn’t flush properly. I called a different plumbing company to come out and they told me my main line was the issue and had to be replaced. They quoted me $15,000. I called Roto-Rooter for a second opinion. My technician Diego D came within the hour did a proper diagnosis and solved the issue. I am grateful that i called root rooter and even more grateful that Diego came to my rescue and reassured me that it wasn’t my main line, from now on i will only be calling Roto-Rooter for all my plumbing and drain issues.
