I have been to FA’s a few times. First time was 2017. I was traveling for work, I had cut my locs and needed my hair done badly. The Owner did my tree braids. They were cute but that hair style didn’t work for me. The 2nd time, my mom and I went last minute and Umu did my mom’s small box braids they were beautiful. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I needed a hair style for another work trip and was in a rush. Umu, braided my hair. She is talented. Patient, and kind. I’ve had my hair braided here a few times and normally don’t have any issues with the actual braids. I get the style I ask for and they’re not too tight, especially around the edges. My appointment usually starts on time and the braiders are pretty fast. My issues involve the payment. Paying $10 to hold the appointment and not have it go towards the cost seems inconsiderate & a bit greedy. With the cost of living (gas, groceries, child care, etc) continuing to increase, charging $10 just to make an appointment doesn’t sit well with me. This was my first and last time here. Also making an appointment is pointless bc they don’t look at what you booked, still ask and get it wrong. So it’s just an extra $10 in their pockets. I booked a wash, blow dry, box braids, mid back, 1B, 27……….I got all 1B, they did box braids in the front and knotless in the back. My hair is still shedding from the fire they put on my braids as well. I only gave 2 stars because from far away my braids look great, but up close, you can definitely tell the rushed work and inconsistency.
