My husband had to go to the ER Sunday at lunch after a fall Saturday night that had broken a rib (so he thought). By the time he went to the ER Sunday at lunch, air had leaked all over his body, causing him to talk like Daffy Duck on helium and his neck and chest to be swollen like the worst body builder ever. Within two hours, he’d been CT scanned on his head and chest and diagnosed with “some broken ribs” with a collapsed lung. He was immediately moved to a room closer to the nurse’s desk for closer monitoring and by supper time, had a tube inserted in his chest to suction out the extra air and help his lung refill and reattach. When the telecom doctor visited that night, we learned he had four broken ribs. During what should have been a major ordeal, we were shored up by compassionate, attentive, knowledgeable, and even funny staff. The ER doctor that night was Dr. Stallworth, a “loan” from Monroeville and he and medical student, Ahmed, explained everything to us in easy to understand detail. All the nurses in there that night, even the student nurse, made our stressful time SOOOO much better. We were then blessed to be assigned to the 4th floor. Y’all! I have NEVER appreciated nurses so much! Some of our favorites? Trischina could brighten anyone’s day. Aneta bullied Lance into taking care of himself, including sitting up if he wanted to ever be back in his feet and that he was NOT doing himself any favors by denying the pain medicine until he needed it or thinking he needed to get back to work too soon. Olivia and Mel were also personal favorites who made his stay so much less stressful on all of us. Dr. Summers took over as Lance’s surgeon, still with Ahmed, for the rest of his stay, and Lance always enjoyed the x-rays with Scott Padgett. I know that may be a bit detailed, but he and I both are sooo thankful that what could have been a totally stressful experience was made almost pleasant because of the caring staff we encountered. Thank you all so much! He just had me add, to all the people complaining about this hospital, you’ve never been to a bad one. They provided me with fast, effective treatment explaining the details all along the way. You’re not going to get a better experience at a hospital.

I wanted to speak on the positive experience my family had with Dr.Morgan, Dr. Harrelson and Dr. Fuqua. My mother was taken to the ER with dangerously low sodium and Dr.. Morgan was very kind and answered all of my parents questions. My mother was admitted by Dr. Harrelson with follow up care by Dr. Fuqua. We were very impressed with the care she received the minute she got to the ER
