“I walked into Mythic today on a whim, I needed to cut off my dead ends and I googled LGBTQ friendly hair salons in the Birmingham area. I couldn’t be more thankful that I ended up at Mythic with Shai. The atmosphere was immediately welcoming, my first interaction was in the parking lot! I was a walk-in and she immediately got me in for a quick cut. Shai even noticed my anxiety and checked in to make sure I was comfortable. The whole experience was both professional and personable, she asked questions and made recommendations based on my thick curly hair. My hair feels and looks great! To top it off, Shai and I had spoken about my child having some recent struggles with mental health, and she gave me some information on local supports when we were done. This brought me to tears. Completely not necessary, but unbelievably kind. Mythic Salon is the place to support ?“

The ambience is as calm as an Afrocentric spa: soft lofi/jazz playing in the background, essential oils, recliners and hair steamers at the shampoo bowl. Most importantly, they describe your damaged hair in such an educational, uplifting, considerate tone that makes you hopeful over your hair journey! No snickering, side-eyes, or shaming at Swoope Hair! Wish I could afford to go more often.
