We went for the touch tanks, which were a lot of fun for both the kids and adults in our group. The hatchery tour was part of the ticket, and I was apprehensive at first but it ended up being awesome! Our guide, Julie, was so passionate about the ecology of the salmon and we learned some really cool stuff. Plus the tour was only half an hour (touch tanks are at your own pace, we spent about 20 minutes), so we had plenty of time to explore town before we were due back at our ship. I would definitely recommend this one!

The science center is absolutely fantastic! From the hatchery to the touch tanks, there's so much to take in, and the staff are always ready to answer any questions you could have.

The Sitka Sound Science Center is one of the coolest places I have ever been. I was walking by one day and checked out the gift shop, and then I went in to the center for the full tour. The tour was the perfect amount of time and very information at 20 minutes. I had no idea that they hatch so many salmon! Go and find out the number. They have indoor tide pools where you can feel some actual living sea animals and awesome aquariums displayed. The gift shop, along with a great clam chowder house are charming.
