VA beneficiaries beware. I had a referral, but I was turned away from care at the decision of a billing specialist for not agreeing to sign their inappropriate financial agreement. I am concerned that she is preying on other veterans. The form I was asked to sign for care under a VA Community Care Network referral stated that medical insurance coverage is between me and my insurance company, that they are not "party" to that contract, that I would be responsible for balance if denied by my insurance, and that I would be responsible for the timely payment of my account. This may apply for certain health 'insurance' plans, but I can assure you this is not appropriate for veterans being referred in the community care network under the VA medical benefit. Ophthalmic Associates, TriWest is the company that manages the VA community care network here in Alaska, and there is no way that they would have been able to assign my referral to Ophthalmic Associates if there was no contract between you two. If your staff member who claimed to have 20+ years of billing and coding experience thinks that turning someone away from medical care for refusing to sign her illegal form is appropriate, then your medical providers should evaluate who they have on their payroll and the ethics which your group is operating under. If she is still employed there, I am grateful that your practice was not involved in my medical care. I desire integrity in my medical providers. Nothing on the TriWest website indicates that you have any right to bill a veteran in any way, shape, or form when they are receiving care under a community care referral/authorization.
I received excellent care from the time I walked in until I left. Was feeling nervous about covid for sure but with eye problems more so. The young lady at the front desk was kind and patient to answer my questions. Nathan and the Dr was so sweet.Thank you guys.
My husband has been seeing Dr. Morgan for more than 10 years and she is AWESOME... totally a 5 Star doctor... however this review is for OA as a whole. Their reception staff is less than mediocre. Over all these years, all that we have dealt with seem as though they despise their job. They're not friendly, nor very helpful and at times, a few have been downright rude. We've learned the ropes and what to expect, which is unfortunately a 3 hour appointment, however only about 30-45 minutes is actually being seen by the techs or doctor. I've learned to bring a book, knitting or of course have a fully charged phone or iPad with me. The Techs that perform the plethora of tests are all wonderful and after so many years, a few of them remember us. They do a quality job taking care of his precious eyes... eyes are indeed precious and we are there every six months. The waiting room is almost always jam packed, they have a coffee station that seems to have troubles every time we are there, which for some may be operator error and unfortunately, it's uncomfortably cold in there. The building is an old home that has become a commercial building and the insulation just isn't up to par for our climate. We adore Dr. Morgan... she is an incredible doctor and just oozes a wonderful, positive, friendly vibe!! She so knowledgeable and keeps us in the know!
