I have been with Crestwood dental for 20+ years. Until recently I have had nothing but great words and praise. However within last 6 months I went there for a cracked tooth. They x-rayed the tooth saying the only way to save is the crown. Using my 1000 benefits for the year was told 900 dollars was going to be paid on top of the year's benefits. I agreed as long as it would work and that was total. Got the tooth ground down to remove the crack. Then filled the tooth. Placing on temporarily until the crown was made. I paid 300 cash and was given a few months to pay the remainder 600. Three weeks later when I returned for a permanent crown. Told the dentist I had 2 huge blister like bumps where the tooth was on the gums. That I thought they continued to grow over a three week period. The dentist told me it was because of the needle and freezing. That it takes a few months for it to heal. Not to worry. Installed the crown and I left up north. Within a week had lumps grow twice in size and bleeding at times. The blood and puss coming out LED me to believe infection. So I missed work to go to the doctor and get penicillin. The doctor told me it would get worse and taking antibiotics would help. With tooth aching and blisters in my mouth I was taking pain killers and antibiotics for a week. Missed work due to driving job and pain killers. Within a week the employer told me it wasn't working out. That I should return to medicine hat to get this tooth fixed properly. To call him when it was good. I returned home taking meds. Hopefully to be done within a week and back to work. Bumps went down and looked to be healing. However when I finished antibiotics within a few weeks I had bumps back. So returning to Crestwood to get figured out. The dentist agreed that it was infected. However saying doctor doesn't deal with dentistry so that's why it came back. Giving me a lot more antibiotics and again pain killers. I was off for another few weeks loosing work up north. I then was told by dentist I needed to spend 300 for full 3D image of tooth just to see what's happening. Why it's continuing to get infected. I refused to pay 300 as Crestwood had already wanted 1900 for fixing this tooth. The manager agreed it needed to be done immediately. They booked me within an hour of leaving there. Went downtown to a 3D x-ray machine. Dentist informed me that root was busted right off. That the tooth never could have been fixed from day one. That removal was only way to fix and keep me from continually getting sick from infection root was causing. I contacted Crestwood stating that I wanted tooth removed. Crestwood said they refunded the benefits portion. ( Fact is my whole years benefits were still being used even though they returned last year's money. A new calendar year for benefits was in place. So I lost whole year of dentist benefits $1000, $300 cash I paid at time of crown would be refunded. However only portion would come back to me. It could take 6-8 weeks to send money from Toronto. That I needed to now pay $60 plus use the new year of benefits to cover the rest of the extraction. That it needed to be done immediately. They told me they would have to hold back my 300 to pay portion insurance doesn't cover for extraction. I refused this as they already took me for $1900 on work. Which clearly would never have worked. Then want more money to fix the problem that occurred due to this crown and fact crown actually sealed in a broken infection. They no I'm waiting for a refund. That once I get it can pay for the removal of my tooth. In the meantime it's getting infected again. Causing more pain and infection. There response was will be a while as they do all there refunds at one time every couple months. So bottom line is they want $1900 for crown. Then want money to correct the problem fully knowing that it's infected and still causing pain. Please be very careful in choosing dentist office. Update been well over 3.5 months now. No refund and still bad tooth. Toronto based company these
