Go see Tin! Seriously. Her balayage will last you six months at least.

Tin is a breath of fresh air. She listens to what you would like and delivers. Chatting with her while she works masterfully on your hair is a delight. She genuinely seems excited to work on your tresses! I've never been disappointed.

Tin is truly one of a kind—not only is she incredibly talented, but she’s also such a beautiful person inside and out. Her calm, down-to-earth vibe makes every appointment feel like a breath of fresh air. From the moment I sit in her chair, I never stress or worry—I just relax, knowing my hair will turn out amazing every single time.

She has an eye for what works and effortlessly brings out the best in my hair, whether it’s a fresh cut, color, or styling. I trust her completely, and that peace of mind is priceless. On top of her skills, she makes the whole experience so easy and enjoyable. She’s not just a great stylist—she’s someone you genuinely look forward to seeing.

    I can’t recommend her enough!

My hair always looks great after each visit! She takes the time to really understand your hair type and listens to what you want. I have curly hair, and she makes sure it looks amazing whether I wear it curly or straight. Her recommendations are always thoughtful and based on what works best for me.

I chose to try coming here for a cut because I was hoping to find something pretty easy to get to. I read Tin's website and Instagram and there was a lot of content about stylists should make a living wage, not getting tips, etc. Not much evidence of short hair styles - mostly long hair with beach waves, so I knew going was a bit of a gamble.

I thought I was running late, but in fact I was early and didn't realize. I rang the doorbell, and Tin yelled at me through the window and said it wasn't my time. I apologized when I realized I actually wasn't late at all, and I sat in my car to wait for her to text me that she was ready. When she let me know it was fine to come in, the first thing she wanted to address was that I hadn't booked through her online system, which I had technical issues with, and she had ended up booking me manually. She seemed very flustered by the issues I had booking and insisted I create a profile on her system before I even sat down. I don't know why it was so onerous that she had to take a minute to book me.

I brought pictures to show what I liked and didn't like, as I think this is helpful for the stylist to understand. When I was showing a picture of a cut I didn't like, she curtly told me that was exactly what I was asking for. My disappointment here, given my effort to talk about what I was trying to achieve and likes and dislikes, is that she didn't try to suggest a style that might be more suitable and achieve some of the styling goals I had, and left me feeling stupid and unheard. In retrospect, I should have listened to my gut that I should've left, but I felt guilty about booking a spot and then not paying, so I sat there and continued. I got my wash and then she cut. My cut lasted only a few minutes and then she moved on to blow drying. I didn't feel there was much effort on styling.

Overall, I feel like I was a big inconvenience to her and she just wanted me to pay so she could get rid of me. She was rude and I can't even say it's worth it because my haircut was very underwhelming, and so was the styling. While I can agree with the idea that there should be no tipping and people should make a fair wage, at least in the situation where the stylists get tips, I can tip generously for their good work and service. However, I think if you're going to charge $100 just for a cut, you need to back that up with professionalism, high level skills and good service. Since I felt it was lacking in all those areas, I just felt like I paid $100 for someone to make me feel bad, and that's the worst part of it all.

And as a follow up to the owner's reply:

It's ironic that you are calling me a troll. Your inflammatory response completely validates my point about a lack of professionalism. ?

I don’t like getting my hair done and will avoid cutting it for months on end. However, I have been going to House of Tin for the last four years and it’s always a great experience. Tin is so kind and friendly, and she will give you great advice about your hair. She knows hair! And she knows what is going to look good on you, and it is a testament to her experience. She’s the best!
