The University District Discovery Centre, located to the west of the University of Calgary and overlooking the Bow River and Rocky Mountains, is a comprehensive 200-acre community with a bold new vision for urban life in Calgary. Through a collaborative, people-first design process, the master planning and thorough engagement program forged strong respect between local stakeholders and the University of Calgary Properties Group. The neighbourhood applies the best ideas in city design and incorporates the wants and needs of surrounding legacy communities, offering a vibrant Retail Main Street and a variety of home options that add to the strong social fabric of the city. The Discovery Centre provides more information about the University District. Customers have praised the excellent customer service, with one reviewer highlighting the friendly and helpful server Sara, and another commending the outstanding service provided by Bret Kilmury. While some have noted the area as a bit "plain," the University District aims to offer a more urban feel compared to typical strip malls and big box stores.
The university district is a little plain. I just thought the area would be a bit more 'forward thinking' since it's owned by the university after all. For example, there are no bike lanes on the main street (neither dedicated lanes or painted ones). It is nice to have a bit more urban feel as opposed to strip malls and big box stores and parking lots though.
Well worth checking out with so much variety of homes to view. A completely unique development to Calgary and especially NW. A lot to take in...and all well constructed luxuriously. Everyone at Discovery Center was super friendly with all the information and more!
This is the info centre for the new University District being built in N.W. Calgary. This area is adjacent to the University of Calgary, Alberta Cildren's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House. The centre provides info about current and future development.
