Al's Chopshop Barber Shop is a very affordable barbershop where the barber is incredibly talented and highly regarded. He pays a lot of attention to details and performs a great, efficient, and precise cut. The barber might seem a bit rude and isn't much for conversation, but he knows what he's doing and takes his time. The shop is quiet without top 40 music. Customers find the price entirely reasonable and report a great experience, with many stating they will definitely return.
One of the best cuts I've ever had, if not the best. Despite the language barrier (Al is from Iraq and English is definitely not his strong suit) I learnt a bit about the Arabic channel that was on the television and he was most friendly. As previous reviews have hinted, he is extremely passionate and very fastidious. For example, he seemed to indicate that we're all done, taking off the cape that you wear but he must have seen some irregularities and proceeded to grab the clippers and scissors and tidy things up. I recently went to this barber shop, and let me tell you about the experience. The barber there, while he might seem a bit rude at first, is incredibly talented. He might not have the warmest personality, but once you see his skills in action, you'll understand why he's so highly regarded. The way he handles his tools and the precision in his cuts is truly impressive. I've been to quite a few places in town, but this guy stands out. He's got an eye for detail that you don't find everywhere.
What is important to you in a haircut - great conversation or a great cut? Al isn't much for conversation but performs a great and efficient cut for an entirely reasonable price.I walked in with no wait and was not assaulted with top 40 noise ... music. A plus in my books.
