“Came in not knowing how to drive a manual, and also never drove a truck and trailer. Left one and done on my class A CDL test, and set a new course record for fastest time during my backing maneuvers course in the yard (and I honestly wasn’t even trying to go fast)
I don’t say all that to brag, but more to shine a light on how great of a job Shawn and Mike did as the instructors.
Shawn and Mike will make the most out of what they have. Battling corporate to get them to fix the trucks and put gravel on the lot. Coming in early on test day to give you time to warm up and practice before your CDL test.
They truly do a great job on teaching, and they both gave me different tips and tricks that really made learning everything easier for me.
As for advice for anybody reading this and thinking of going, I say: do it! Make sure you get your pre trip down word for word. You gotta get outta pre trip to even do your backing maneuvers and road section on your CDL test so it is very important.
Other than that, all I gotta say is don’t be afraid to ask the teachers for help or advice or stuff like that. They’re gonna give you the space and time to learn, and they don’t smother ya and micro manage. Just say the word and you will have them hop to it and they’ll help you with whatever you need.
It truly is a great school. I just wish corporate would put more effort into maintaining the trucks and not make our instructors lives harder by fighting em tooth and nail to get things fixed
I will say this though, when the 1 manual truck we had broke down, they did buy a new one that was super nice though. So corporate ain’t all bad.
Just stop being cheap and pay for some more gravel on that yard!!! Lmao.
In all, I give the school experience a real 10/10. Couldn’t have asked for better teachers or students to learn alongside of. Zack in the office was also a huge help and a very kind dude.“
