I was successful. I am an older driver with health issues affecting my mobility. I needed to prove my driving days were not over. I have a 46 year clean driving record, 20 years were with this health issue. My doctor has to sign a dmv form that this mobility issue does not affect my ability to drive safely. At my last appointment she warned me that she would not be willing to sign anymore. I quickly needed to prove I am still a safe driver on the limited roads I stil drive. I don't drive all road conditions anymore. I just needed a professional evaluation of my driving safety on the road condition I do drive. AABC has a one-on-one custom on-the -road driving instruction for older drivers to refresh their driving skills. I asked if i could use this as a driving evaluation for my doctor. They replied I could. Despite a waiting list for on-the- road they prioritized my session so it would be available when my doctor got the dmv form. I learned a lot during my session, although it was just an evaluation. Tom said I could make improvements that most older drivers need to make. I passed the evaluation, my doctor signed that I can drive for 1 more year. I have plans in place for what I will do when I no longer have a drivers license. But that year is not this year. YEAH! I will use this year to improve as Tom adsvised. I make sure I am following all the rules of safe driving. My bad, I assume other drivers are doing the same. After my session with Tom, I am using my mirrors more, especially the rearview mirror. I don't assume cross traffic is going to obey their road signs. I am a more defensive driver on the limited driving conditions I still drive. I was successful thanks to AABC driving school.
