ove my sister, Dr. Allison Becker, and her medicine. I have been her ‘guinea pig’ since med school started in the late 90’s. Today I came to her with what we surmise is an allergic reaction to spider bites. Over 100 lesions on my hands, neck, face & arms. I’d been to urgent care where they swabbed for shingles (negative), gave me prednisone to control the inflammation, and sent me home. I left her clinic having soaked my hands in an oat milk bath, doused my lesions with Calendula, and covered them with a clay and Oregon grape poultice, then covered me in gauze. I love the creativity of natural medicine and my sores are on the path to healing, with the poison drawn out by the oatmeal and clay.
