Door County Kennels Inc., run by Dave, is a great place for dogs. The kennel provides a flexible and caring environment for dogs, with Dave taking excellent care of his furry guests. He has a special connection with animals, and it shows in his interactions with them. Even dogs who are initially out of their element quickly warm up to him. The kennel's prices are very reasonable, especially considering the extra work that Dave puts in. He went above and beyond in accommodating a family who got stuck on Washington Island and was very understanding about the situation. During their stay, the dogs are taken for walks and cared for at night, allowing their owners to enjoy day trips without worrying about their pets. When it's time to go home, the dogs are happy and well-cared for. Overall, Door County Kennels Inc. is a wonderful place for dogs, and Dave is highly deserving of the praise he receives. His love for dogs is evident in everything he does, and pet owners can feel good about leaving their furry friends in his care.
We really enjoyed having our new puppy stay at the Door County Kennels. Dave was great and took amazing care of our little guy. The flexibility this allowed us to have our puppy with for the day trips and know that he is getting walked and cared for at night.
This is an amazing place. The gentleman that runs it is very nice and he loves dogs. You can tell he has a special connection with animals the minute you walk in. We got stuck on Washington Island for longer than intended and weren't able to make it back before he closed. But after calling him we were very relieved at how accommodating he was about the situation. He didnt even charge us extra. His prices are amazing especially for the extra work he puts in. We gave him more than what he asked for since he highly deserved it for the amount of work he put in. I would definitely go again.
We took our lovely Bailey here. Coming in, she was completely out of her element and barked at the owner as loud as she could. She did not want to go into her kennel! With a heavy heart, I decided to give it a try for one night. The next day we came pretty much as soon as they opened. Immediately I could tell that she had warmed up to the owner as she was no longer barking and was giving him friendly nudges. We took her for a walk and returned. This time she happily went into her kennel, which was a huge relief. She was not sad that we had left for another day. The next day, when we came to pick her up, Dave immediately told us that she had complete change of heart and that she was as sweet (to him) as can be. And I could tell that she was treated nicely and that she was happy there. But still even more happy to go home :-) Dave is constantly walking around the property with "his" dogs, which is exactly what Bailey needed. I give Dave and his kennel 5/5 stars! We will make sure he has our business again, should we come back to Door County!
