For the first time since being diagnosed with cancer and just finishing my treatments, I decided to try to make myself feel better about my appearance. I went to Lee’s Nail Spa for a full acrylic set with gel polish. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. My nail technician was quite rough throughout the appointment, and she seemed to have difficulty understanding my request for square-shaped nails. The result was a set of nails that were crooked, uneven in thickness, and had fills that were far from the cuticle—making them look grown out from day one. After everything I’ve been through, this was supposed to be a small act of self-care, but I left feeling worse. I hope the salon can take feedback like this to heart, especially when working with clients who may be coming in during vulnerable times in their lives.
