Today, I had an (EEEEK) root canal, performed by Dr Devin and staff. I'd never had this particular type of adventure before, so only knew the horror stories I'd heard about pain, pain, and more pain. THOSE OLD STORIES ARE NO LONGER TRUE! After requesting a blanket & neck pillow, I went in, and got a numbing experience, literally. [Did I mention that I HATE needles] A topical numbing agent was dabbed on the injection area, and after a few minutes, a vibrator was turned on in my mouth while the injection was administered. I felt only the tiniest 'pick'. A few more minutes later, a second injection of numbing agent was put in. This time, I didn't even feel the pick. While I waited for that to do its job, I noticed that, on either side of the target tooth, my feeling was absolutely normal; it was as if that one small area no longer existed! Doc Devin and his assistant (I'm sorry, I didn't get her name) explained to me and showed images of my tooth and what to expect. My questions were fully answered. A different kind of image was needed, so I was taken to this amazing machine that talks as it get ready, "ready to capture". But the really FUN part is that while it's imaging, it has these funny burbbly, squirbbly sounds; I felt like I was inside a video game or on an old fashioned carousel! Very cool! To make a long story short, Doc Devin explained the new images and got to work. NEVER DID I FEEL ANY PAIN WHATSOEVER!!! Neither was my whole face numb, only that one area. After my root canal was finished, I went for coffee and did some shopping before heading home. After about 3 hours, even that limited area was no longer numb! So, if like me, you've heard horror stories about root canals, SEE DOC DEVIN! I can't give him and his staff enough credit. They are AMAZING!!!
The staff at Winlock Family Dentistry are very friendly. They are knowledgeable and answer any questions I have. Dr Clark is great…Lucky to have this office close to where I live
