Nisqually Veterinary Clinic

Nisqually Veterinary Clinic, formerly known as Horse and Cart Small Animal Hospital, is a full-service animal hospital serving pet owners in Roy, Yelm, and McKenna. Known for its knowledgeable and competent staff, the clinic focuses on providing quality care while balancing cost considerations. They are praised for their proactive approach, explaining procedures and advantages of services, and providing prompt follow-up care with clear instructions. The staff is described as efficient and professional, although they may be too busy to build familiarity with all clients. They are transparent about fees, itemizing costs in estimates and avoiding pressure for unaffordable treatments. Treatment plans are individualized to meet the needs of both pets and their owners.

The clinic's team is recognized for being very kind and understanding, taking into account not just the pet's needs but also the family’s ability to support recommendations. They treat rescue pets with gentleness and compassion, especially those with issues like noise sensitivity or stranger anxiety. Dr. Thomas is noted for being gentle and thorough, especially with older pets, and the staff members are praised for their caring and genuine approach. The clinic prioritizes appointments for urgent but non-life-threatening cases and uses a waitlist system when cancellations happen. While they do not offer after-hours or weekend appointments, the reception staff is known for their friendliness and empathy.

The waiting area could be improved, as the large reception desk, which offers privacy, can sometimes make clients feel invisible due to staff conversations. Overall, Nisqually Veterinary Clinic is highly regarded for its veterinary care, honest approach, and dedication to its patients.
