in our 42 year old house, the water main shut off valve in our pantry began to leak, saturated some of the adjacent sheetrock and wood flooring. We discovered this Saturday afternoon. Josh came out that same afternoon, diagnosed the problem, checked the water pressure supply to the house which may have played a part in the valve leaking, and set up a return visit on Sunday with the parts needed to fix that leaking valve and also address the high pressure from our service line. We replaced all of the CPVC in our home in Maple Valley with PEX-A because after 29 years it was starting to fail ($20k). In the process we discovered that the builder (Polygon) used CPVC in the crawl space underground to connect to the water main. This material should never be used underground. Not wanting to connect the good with the bad and wait for another failure down the road, we decided to run a new PEX line from the meter to the home ($12k) since there was no way of finding where the connection was in the yard without digging up our concrete patio.
