J2 Building Consultants, founded by Jens Johanson in 2007, specializes in guiding forensic analysis and building envelope repairs for homeowners associations and stressed building owners. They have locations in Washington, Oregon, and Utah, and have managed projects across the country. J2's core mission is to provide help, hope, and happiness to owners of struggling buildings.
Although J2 typically works with condos, commercial buildings, and other professionals, they are also willing to assist individual prospective condo buyers. One such buyer appreciated Jens' helpful insights and sound advice, which played a key role in making a major purchasing decision.
J2's design team and project managers are known for being great to work with, providing high-quality work and thorough customer service. They are recommended for building envelope remediation design and architectural work. Their team members, like Walter Flores, are praised for their conscientious oversight and technical knowledge of building construction, which helps give community members confidence in the contractors' work. Thanks to Walter's detailed work, the community now has peace of mind.
Recent reviews highlight the company's site visits, where engineers like Stephen are attentive to needs and honest about property conditions. Stephen investigates thoroughly, examining every nook and cranny to assess structural integrity. He provides helpful advice on prioritizing repair projects based on safety and even takes extra precautions, such as caution tape for unsafe beams, to protect residents. Clients note that Stephen’s expertise is outstanding, and his considerate approach makes a positive impact. His thoroughness and knowledge are highly appreciated.
J2 also assists with HOA management, offering monthly "building doctor" inspections that help board members stay informed about various issues. Their expert reports have helped secure insurance settlements and facilitate repairs without litigation. They are known for being very knowledgeable, professional, and reliable.
Jim Kessler and the entire staff of J2 Building Consultants have completed large projects, such as a $4.5 million rehab for a condominium complex, with seamless coordination. Their reputation in the building construction industry and their ability to handle jobs of all sizes make them highly recommended.

The group at J2 were awesome to work with. Everything was well explained to us and any time we had a question (which was often!) they got back to us, within 24 hours. I highly recommend them.
