My husband died suddenly at home. We had not made any prior arrangements. I called a funeral home from a list supplied by a lay pastor in the area called in by the Sheriff's office but, because it was after hours, I did not hear back. Meanwhile, my husband was just lying there. At around 1 AM I called Dignity, which provides referrals for Veterans. They put me directly through to a funeral director at Purdy & Kerr. The director said they would come out and get my husband and if I chose arrangements at with another funeral home, there would be no charge for their services. This is the event and experience nobody ever wants to have. But it’s part of life. When we reached out to Purdy and Kerr, and they were very helpful. Terry ( in Monroe) Addressed things we had not even thought about and step By Step helped us complete some of the details. All the staff was wonderful from the minute we walked in the door. I would use this purdy and Kerr and this location again.

Our meeting was for pre-arrangements for my 95-year-old mother. The plans were clear, and there was no "upsell" to costlier arrangements. I stated her wishes, and they were met with grace and kindness. I believe when the time comes to utilize these arrangements we will be met with courtesy and caring.
