"The older I get, the better I was" is a phrase that creeps into my thoughts, more times than I would like. Recent events required me to regain my flexibility, especially the hips, in a short amount of time. I tried Yoga and Pilates and good ol' regular stretching and although it all helped, it was not quick enough for me. I've known about Rolfing for many years, but I was under the mis-impression that it was a painful procedure. Being desperate, I called Sterling at Rolfing Eastside. A call that literally changed my life. After the first treatment, I left Sterling's office walking like a new-born giraffe. I high stepped, slide side-to-side and kicked without pain; something I wasn't able to do a mere hour or so before. Sterling's a great guy and conversations are always enjoyable... and all the other things that make an office great, but the bottom line is, it works. I recommend Sterling for everyone wanting to regain the flexibility that time took away.
I was recommended to Sterling Cassel through my regular physician. I have chronic lower back and hip pain stemming from an injury two years ago. I had major surgery done followed by months of PT and still suffered. I have found that rolfing provides significant relief that lasts much longer than regular massage, PT or pain medications. I am trying to maintain regular rolfing appointments and combine this with daily stretching and walking to improve my quality of life. I also find that I sleep longer and more deeply on the nights after I've had a treatment! I consider my rolfing treatments a literal "treat". Thank you Sterling!
Rolfing was something that sounded vaguely familiar when I met Sterling and he (re)introduced me to the concept, but I'd never tried it. I went to him for one session at a time when my shoulders and forearms were particularly tense. I won't lie and say the treatment was pleasant; it was not painful but not relaxing. He worked for an hour on my arms from the top to the bottom. I left feeling a tingling in my muscles as if I'd just worked them out - hard. It was that feeling you get when it feels like you've done a good workout and you feel relaxed because of it. I can see the benefit of visiting Sterling for multiple sessions to address different areas of the body for better body awareness, mobility, and structural alignment. I didn't realize until he put his hands on me how tense I really was and it made me want to figure out why my muscles were so tight so I could find another way to lift, carry, and generally hold my body.
