Sound IT is a excellent company. My laptop hinge broke, and I took it to them. We paid the $110 deposit. The total cost was probably going to be a little over $250 they told me, which made me nervous but I saw they had good reviews, and my laptop is too old for the warranty I bought with it but too new and hardly used to just go get a new one. So they had my laptop for a few days, and then called me to verify the parts they needed to order and the estimated cost, and to make sure I wanted to go ahead with the repair—the estimated cost was still close to the original quote so I said sure. Fast forward a few days, I get another call, the parts they needed came, they went to install them—and it broke again in the exact same manner as I brought it in! Something about the plastic within the lid cracked. Clearly manufacturer problem. They said they would order another set of the parts needed, no extra cost to me for new parts or labor. About a week goes by, they call and say it’s ready! I asked over the phone to verify the amount I owe (my husband was picking it up, so I wanted him to be prepared) and...I owe nothing? What? Not that I want to argue with no further amount owed, but what happened to the estimate? I expected to pay another approximately $150-$200 on top of my deposit. The nice gentleman on the other line said “Yah, I don’t know...but I’m the owner, and the tech closed out this ticket already, and it says zero balance due.” I know that was probably either a glitch in the matrix or something, but they did GREAT WORK (little bit of “coloration” spots on my touch screen, but the touch screen still works and it’s only noticeable on startup when the screen is black, you can see a faint bit of yellowish color—maybe the backplate was just screwed on a little more snug than before, otherwise, impeccable work) and it was super affordable. Would definitely go back and recommend to others. Thanks Charlie!
