A hidden gem...a bit of a drive to get to, but worth the effort. Usually, a reservation is needed to tour the Gardens. We showed up with no reservation; we met the owner, Ellie and her husband. Very friendly and welcoming. Ellie gave us a personal tour of the Gardens, after, she allowed us to go back by ourselves and take all the pictures we wanted. Picturesque, whimsical, vibrant, colorful...a Gem! There's no charge to tour the Gardens. The Owners also have a AirBnB available on the property. It is Charming, Cozy and it looks very comfortable. It offers an outside shower under the trees, a hot tub and a sauna. There are also two double Hammocks outside. Idyllic!
Leaving the city, with all of it’s noise and traffic, we headed north to a quiet garden retreat. Once you reach the Castle Rock exit, you can tell you’ve entered an unique community with its mix of farmland and cottage living. Do not miss a nice stroll through the downtown area, where you might even stop for an afternoon cider at the local brewery. When you arrive at Stillmeadows Gardens and Retreat, you can tell the owner cares a great deal about their property and has invested a lot in the gorgeous landscaping. Be prepared to enter the gardens and transport yourself into a calming environment. Upon entering the home, you have the warm and soothing smell of the fire,...read full review
What a beautiful garden and retreat space! I must have over 100 pictures of beautiful June flowers! I loved all the places to wonder and discover new plants. There are great places to sit all over the gardens and listen to the birds, the running water, and enjoy the serenity that only that combination can bring. Not only has there been a ton of work done to create this space but also a high skill level! Certainly worth the stop on your way up or back to see Mt St Helens. Worth the drive just to enjoy the gardens themselves!
