Transgender Health Care at Virginia Mason Bellevue

I took my husband to Virginia Mason to see Dr. Leland Teng for an injury, as part of the Executive Care 365 program. We were promptly brought into an exam room by the front desk person, who was so friendly and accommodating. Dr. Teng joined us shortly after and spent a great deal of time educating my husband and me about the injury and what it means for the body. He provided a treatment plan, and as part of the program, shared his cell phone for my husband to reach out to for follow up. The level of service as part of the program is absolutely incredible, and Dr. Teng is FANTASTIC!

Today was our first appointment here, and I am very picky about customer service. I was expecting a bad experience based on some reviews. It was the opposite. I called to confirm my appointment in the morning, and the lady was patient. We came, found easy parking, went up the elevator, and checked in. No problems. The medical assistant was friendly and took the time to write why we were there. Then in less than 5 minutes, the doctor came. He was great and was with us for about 20 minutes. He diagnosed, explained, and asked us questions. He never rushed us. I am so glad we had a better experience than in Seattle. The best thing is that I did not have to go to Seattle! Thanks.

Virginia Mason has changed. VM has some good doctors but the VM org gets a 1 star. My primary is now booked out a month with no gaps left for earlier appts. That's not how it used to be. I had a recent visit with my primary, he issued a lab test to examine something, and afterwards, I used the portal to message him (asking his opinion/referral for a different test to help diagnose the problem). The message wasn't sent to my primary, it was intercepted by people hired to filter messaged who replied (days later) that I should either agree to be charged for messages as visits over the next year, or book a second appointment. That's also new. I had to call the office directly, they forwarded my message to my primary and he promptly responded. I like some doctors there, it's the new VM organization that isn't patient-friendly.
