I found a kitten that we think around the 10 wk range. Took her to a vet in Fredericksburg. They barely did anything for her. She was only .97 lbs at this point, could not regulate her own body temp, and it was clear to me that she had eye infections, ear mites, and needed fluids. This was on a Thursday. Saturday came, and now I am at Pet Vet in Fredericksburg. After waiting a bit, they did let me know they were not an emergency vet, but they would do what they could to help her. They took her back to see what could be done. They ended up giving her subcutaneous fluids, meds for ear mites, meds for eye infections, and meds for an upper respiratory infection. I had to bring my cat in because he was not well. Unfortunately, he could not get better, and I had to make the terrible decision to say goodbye. Under any circumstances, this is an awful visit at the vet. However, the doctor and staff were amazingly supportive and genuinely caring about my feelings and my baby’s comfort. They all clearly love the animals which ultimately means the most. Just forgive the check in process (staff does not just sit at the desk as everyone is so busy taking care of the animals so you may have to wait to be acknowledged) and lack of seating.
