Background: I woke up with a super sore knee and had trouble walking around after a day of raking and hauling leaves, and trampoline play. It got better, then got worse. It hurt so bad at one point I was on crutches. It was hard to sleep, hard to do anything and a huge stress about the looming cost of what was to come next. I went to see my GP, she thought it might be a torn meniscus and recommended an xray and 6 weeks PT and possibly referral to an Orthopedic doctor. I called a PT and just the first appointment would cost $325... and was told they would prefer an MRI first! $$$$$$$$$$ Someone recommended I see Dr. Bolin at Performance Medicine of Southwest Virginia. SOOOO glad I did. After a few questions Dr. Bolin did a visual examination of my knee and its movement capabilities. His years of experience enabled him to diagnose my issue WITHOUT an MRI or xray. Going to him saved me $$$$$$$ AND 6 weeks of unnecessary PT! Not only that but he treated it on the spot and I am WALKING NORMAL!!!!! I did luck out in that my injury wasn't actually a torn meniscus. He diagnosed me with "Right tibia in anterior position and externally rotated." My knee was "twisted" and pinching the meniscus, causing the pain and inflammation. He adjusted it (aka put it back where it was supposed to be) and I was out the door a new woman. Starting your treatment early with the PROPER diagnosis can save you so much time and money.“
