Virginia Dance Center (VDC), situated in Manassas, provides a range of dance classes for students aged 3 to adult, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Pre-school dance. Many look forward to more adult classes in the future. VDC is one of the most welcoming places, and one instructor, Ms. Summer, is loved. Daughter is still enjoying going to ballet each week. They do fun activities to get them to learn the basics of ballet. VDC is not a competitive environment. Daughter has been dancing at VDC for 11 years and youngest has been dancing for 4 years. Girls have learned so much about dance from the numerous teachers they have had over the years and have become very close with the teachers. An adult has felt very welcomed into class after not dancing for many years. The quality of a VDC production cannot be beat. They make it easy to try new styles with their summer session. VDC supports and celebrates their dancers.
I think VDC is great, but I wanted to provide a little context for the comment about it not being very welcoming. VDC is a large and busy dance school and they really seem to prioritize quality instruction over anything else. The classes are dense with activity with no minute wasted. This definitely makes it hard to have a conversation with instructors as a parent. My daughter has had the same instructor for the last 4 or 5 years and I've spoken with her on average once a year. Oh and fyi those assistant teachers are really just older student volunteers, so they aren't going to do much without the instructor. My daughter has been taking dance classes at Virginia Dance Center for the past 4 years now. She absolutely loves it. The instructors are talented and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is always welcoming. I appreciate how easy it is to communicate with the staff. They very responsive to emails with any questions or concerns. VDC provides great quality of instruction and organized recitals and performances everything is done with professionalism and passion.We are so grateful to have found this place. I highly recommend VDC!
I have absolutely loved coming to VDC the last three years. The team is incredibly encouraging and supportive as I've watched myself and everyone around me grow as dancers.
