Fast forward to my recent appointment, I chose this place for the 2nd time, mainly for its previous positive experience. I booked the appointment through Style Seat, expecting to pay around $248 to $400 based on the app. However, I ended up paying $483, exceeding my budget significantly. The stylist, Jeanette, started the service with her daughter present, which was a bit distracting but tolerable. Unfortunately, the pain during the process was intense, reminiscent of my first negative experience with a different stylist. The parting of my hair and the tightness of the style caused discomfort. The price increase for thick hair was vague on the website, and I was charged more than expected. After the appointment, the pain persisted, and driving home was challenging. I experienced tension bumps and dull pain, which affected my overall satisfaction. Additionally, the lack of transparency in costs and unexpected charges left me feeling uneasy. Despite the positive history with THLS, the recent experience with pain, unclear pricing, and unexpected charges has led me to reconsider returning. After discussing the matter further, it became clear that there was a miscommunication about the length of the braids. The partial refund offered by THLS demonstrates their commitment to customer satisfaction, and I'm grateful for their understanding and willingness to address the issue. I understand now that my hair was considered too long for the requested armpit length, leading to the mid-back length. While the service itself had moments of discomfort, I appreciate the braider's effort in ensuring my comfort by checking in on me as I was shifting and offering breaks. I also understand and respect the salon's policy of accommodating single mothers, and I appreciate the flexibility they provide. Ugo and her ladies are amazing! My twists look beautiful and I didn't feel like my soul was being snatched out from my scalp during the process. They were gracious to still see me despite running hella late when the weather/accidents doubled my commute time. I received compliments at work, ladies passing by, and from friends/family.
