Arn and his crew did a whole-house renovation on our 1914 Chevy Chase, DC home. He and his crew worked tirelessly on a very tight timeframe, since our family had to move out to have the work done and were anxious to move back in for the school year. They worked with us through a very sticky zoning situation (due to an error by the architect, not the builder) and were professional and reliable throughout. The trimwork and details were replicated to match the original millwork, and the finished product preserved the historical integrity of the home while bringing the kitchen and living areas into the 21st century.

We did a major renovation and addition to our house with Arn Flitcroft (owner of Chattan Assoc), that completed about a year ago. Arn and his crew are the absolute best -- they do top quality work. We have a typical Vienna split level, and did a major amount of work, including adding a 500 sq ft master suite addition with balcony, adding a 400sq ft deck, moving the laundry room up to the bedroom level, and making the main level an open plan great room, which included a full kitchen remodel and reworking of the kitchen bay window and roof line. We also had him replace all of the flooring on the bedroom level and stairs, replace our stair railings, re-side the entire house, reface the brick with cultured stone, and replace all of the windows to match those used for the new construction. It was a large undertaking that took several months. Arn gave us a good price and a reasonable timeline, which he stuck to. In addition, Arn is very pleasant, easy to work with, and responsive. His crew members are true craftsmen, and we enjoyed having them around (we lived in the house during the entire remodel). Arn had temporary walls built that kept the dust and dirt to an absolute minimum, for which I am forever grateful -- no wiping everything down everyday. We had some custom work done, such as building a large banquette in the kitchen bay window. Arn's crew got some preliminary measurements, then built an entire mockup so we could test it before they built the final. They also painted whole walls, or multiple walls, in each room so I could make sure the paint colors I chose looked the way I wanted them to look. They consulted me on the closet built-ins, making sure the height of the hanging bars was where I wanted it, and that the items I was planning to store in them would fit. When I wasn't sure what I should do, they gave me excellent suggestions that always turned out perfectly. After all the work was done, we had an open house for friends and neighbors -- many of them commented on both the beauty and quality of the work. If we ever did more work, Arn would be the first one we would call.

Although it's been 12 years since Arn Flitcroft built our porch, I can't imagine our house any other way. you'd think a porch project wouldn't be a big deal, but we had an early 1900's house that the original front porch was removed in the 1960's. Our architect designed a beautiful wrap around porch and Chattan Associates executed it beautifully. If we ever renovate or add on, we'd love to work with Arn and Chattan again.
