“Please don't give any credence to this bad review from Addison Wathen. This individual was a new client the year before he wrote this bad review. He had a fairly large federal tax refund coming so he wanted to know what he could do to avoid getting such a large refund at the end of each year, because he would rather get more back on each paycheck. I mentioned that he should check with his employer to see how many dependents he was currently claiming, and possibly increase the number of dependents. However, since he did not provide me with any details regarding how many dependents he was currently claiming (since he did not currently know). He never got back to me to let me know the details, and apparently went ahead and increased the number of dependents on his W-4 form by himself, without getting my opinion as to how this would affect his future tax refund. I have no knowledge as to how much he increased his dependent deductions. However, when he gave me his W-2 and other tax information the following year, it showed that he was now owing some tax, and he got really upset and belligerent with me and wanted me to pay his tax that he now owed. I told him that I only pay for any tax penalties and interest, but not someone's tax liability. I also explained that he had the benefit of receiving extra money on each of his paychecks throughout the year, but he threatened to post bad reviews for me if I didn't pay the tax that he owed. I refused to pay his tax liability, so this is why he posted this bad review. This is the only bad review I have ever had in the 40 years that I have been a CPA. I always strive to provide top-quality service at a fair and reasonable price, and to be responsive to my client's needs.“
