We purchased a home built by Southern Post Construction, owned by Charles Cavazos, and unfortunately, our experience has been deeply disappointing. The workmanship, lack of accountability, and overall unprofessionalism displayed by Mr. Cavazos have made this process frustrating and exhausting. My wife and I first engaged with Mr. Cavazos in mid-August 2024 after relocating to McAllen. We fell in love with the Spanish Oak Subdivision and decided to purchase a home that was about 80% complete. At the time of purchase, we were assured that the remaining work would be completed promptly. However, it took nearly three months for him to finish what was pending. Even then, when we moved in on November 27, 2024, the house was still not 100% complete. Since moving in, it has been a constant struggle to get Mr. Cavazos to honor his commitments and complete the outstanding work. He has been deceitful, unprofessional, and uncooperative, repeatedly failing to follow through on his promises. His unwillingness to communicate and take responsibility has made it clear that he has little regard for his clients’ satisfaction. One of the most concerning issues is his failure to honor the standard one-year home warranty and his refusal to adhere to inspections from a state-certified inspector. These are basic expectations when purchasing a home, yet Mr. Cavazos has disregarded them entirely. Despite marketing his homes as high-end, Mr. Cavazos cuts corners and installs low-quality materials to maximize his profit margin. This deceptive practice leaves homeowners with a subpar product while paying premium prices. I strongly advise against hiring Southern Post Construction or purchasing a home built by Charles Cavazos. He has demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism, fails to communicate, and only responds when pressured—if at all. He has left our home incomplete despite multiple attempts to contact him. Dealing with Charles Cavazos has been a frustrating and time-consuming ordeal. If you’re looking for a builder who is reliable, professional, and accountable, look elsewhere. I regret trusting him and hope that others can avoid the same headache.
