After working in the roofing industry for another roofer for several years, doing inspections, meeting with homeowners and adjusters I thought I knew what to expect when Don arrived to look at my roof from recent hail damage, but I couldn't have been more wrong. First he knew an adjuster had been out and did not ask for my adjustment sheets and say he could do the job based of those prices. He got on my roof and did his measurements and gave me a bid based off his actual assesment of the job and was based on his prices, which was a fair and honest. Only after he did the bid did I show him the actual claim prepared by the adjuster so he could confirm the particulars and his price was within 400.00 dollars of what was allowed. He did not just take the total number and write it down and tell me this is the price. He did not ask for any checks to be written to him in advance such as some roofers ask for 2 checks, one to cover deductible and the rest of 50% to start job. My claim was already paid out by insurance and was less the deductible anyway. Anyone who ask for a deducltible in advance and takes the bottom line number is just pocketing the extra money that may include other items as well since each line item includes depreciation and part of the deductible anyway. Also be wary of any roofer that shows up and mentions filing supplements, as it is a way for them to get more money straight from the insurance company because they know the insurance company will not verify the work because it is too costly. I think Don is a fair an honest guy that will quote you based on the scope of the job and not on a number written on a piece of paper. I understand there could be some hidden items that need to be addressed if they are found but it should not be policy to tell a homeowner up front supplements are inevitable. I was impressed with the way Don does business and and it is based on fairness and honesty and not what is on an adjustment sheet. I highly recommend D.E. Don Wilder if you are in need of any type of roofing job. Also, he backs his work with one of the best labor warranties around.
