We just moved in to our new home. The builder used Allied for our countertops. LOVE our island granite, however, there are MULTIPLE chips on the granite and several areas that were clearly repaired and not buffed before being installed in our home. We have asked the builder multiple times to have Allied repair the areas that need buffing. The answer from both builder and Allied is no....it's not under warranty. I am still uncertain what that even means. They obviously do NOT stand behind their products. You have to take what they give you and shut up. I am highly disappointed in Allied because we had zero issues with them when we used them two years ago to replace our counters in our old home. They had no issues coming back out to repair any blemishes at that time. That's because the cash was coming right from our pockets and going directly to Allied. With new builds.....BUYER BEWARE. They do NOT stand behind their products.

We could not be more pleased with the job done and service received in purchasing granite counters for our outdoor patio grill kitchen. Our salesman, Jim Lechler, was incredibly patient and helpful when it came to helping my wife find just the right color to match the stone (FYI - their stone selection is amazing). Then being able to go to the work area behind the store and see the full slabs once she narrowed down her choices made her job much easier. Also, props to the guys behind the scenes, particularly Sergio, who made sure that our grill components would actually fit and recommended a top-notch mason to retrofit what didn't because our contractor was incompetent. That's above and beyond the call of duty, but that's the type of amazing service/help we received. Finally, I've got to compliment Luis and the crew that did the final install. They kept us in the loop the entire time, always asked what we thought, and cleaned up everything. Just top-notch all the way around.

In all fairness, a well as in an attempt to provide a fair review, our dissatisfaction with this vendor/trade was partially our fault ... We did do our homework; we did do our research; we did seek input from multiple sources; we did did meet with several vendors/trades; and, we did get that not-completely-at-rest feeling, when we opted to go with these folks. But, in our defense, they do have a nice showroom (as to Wade's earlier review); we really wanted to do business locally; and, as it was our first major remodel-type project, we dismissed our gut feeling as plain ol' jitters -- and went back to them for our business. Never ... ever ... EVER ... again, though. * The installation was genuinely painless, and the crew that visited our home was no less than remarkable! (We've gotta give credit, where credit is due. They were, however, misinformed by whomever scheduled them.) * The measurement tech was knowledgeable, insightful and quite competent. We learned a LOT from him. (But, even he said suggested there was no need for us to have endured what we did as part of the sales and scheduling process.) * But, then, there's the sales and scheduling process ... No compliments, here. OMG. Could we all get on one friggin' page? Could we all align to one friggin' set of realistic expectations?? Could we all referenced one friggin' group of documents??? (Not tribal knowledge or individual perspective, but plain ol' actual documents.) Geez. I kept my mouth shut through this entire process saying to myself, "It's going to get better ... It's GOT to get better ..." Nope. :( Our advice to anyone on a budget, where you're considering such a project AND you're serious about watching your hard-earned money: 1. Shop around; however, shop around for vendors/trades that specialize in remodels -- not new construction. (Remember, you're living in your home, while your vendor/trade is doing their job -- scheduling, coordinating, fabricating, etc.) 2. Be prepared for stress, inconvenience and pulling your own weight by (you) initiating regular communication; (you) staying on top of the details; (you) filling-in the gaps for various related services; (you) referring back to the documentation; etc. 3. Thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly read your contract; frequently relate this to your invoice and, then, within routine communication; and, politely, stand your ground. (It is 100% YOUR material ... ALL of it. Do NOT be pressured into relinquishing any left-over material without fair compensation, or pressured into paying more money to have the remaining material fabricated in order to get it back.) 4. Do not agree to ANY percentage or portion of the actual installation up front. (Be fair ... If you're pulling material from their stock, or they're special ordering it, you need to continue to do your part, here. But, keep the install labor till separate from the material till.) 5. Write-in an "out" to your contract -- along the lines of specific performance or non-performance -- that allows either of you to walk away, if you're dissatisfied with their knowledge, their service, their followup, their attitudes, etc. (They need to continually EARN your business, right up to the final symbolic wipe of the countertops following installation completion.) And, finally, just about the time you're about to pull the trigger on such a project ... Stop! That's right. Just plain ol' stop. Take just a little time to re-engage with the vendors/trades that occupied your #2 or #3 spot; reconnect with friends or neighbors that were researching, perhaps even completing, similar projects; check the absolute latest reviews of your top vendor/trade; etc. In this We learned a LOT from our experience, mainly, that we're not doing this, again. But, to each his own -- and you might love this company.
