From Second Chance Emporium
Second Chance supports the non-profit organizations in our county by means of a a thrift store which is operated by a coalition of local churches. None of the profits go to the churches. The profits are given out as grants to local non-profits such as food pantries, health and human service organizations, etc. With the community's support of Second Chance, we have been able to give out over $4 million in grants since our inception. And the good quality, low cost items that we sell are an additional boon to our community's underprivileged population. We accept donations Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 2:30 PM. Our store is open for sales on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 AM to 3 PM.

The store is known for its wide selection of used merchandise, and customers appreciate the helpfulness of the staff. They assist with loading big items into vehicles, making the shopping experience easier. Regulars often line up early on Fridays to ensure they get in, as the store can get crowded. Many shoppers have noted that the checkout line moves quickly, enhancing the overall experience. While some customers have mentioned a possible increase in prices, it is highlighted that Second Chance Emporium has recently donated a significant amount of money to the Flatonia Area Food Pantry and other local food pantries. The store operates on a cash-only basis, and some visitors have suggested that accepting debit/credit cards would make shopping more convenient. Overall, Second Chance Emporium is seen as a blessing, offering great items at prices that make shoppers happy, and many customers express gratitude toward the employees and volunteers.
